Dr. Mary Ann Gawelek is not only a donor and volunteer but also an advocate, demonstrating the meaning of LIVE UNITED.
"I advocate for community improvement everyday by supporting United Way's efforts to research the condition of women in the region, and by encouraging women to get directly involved in their community by serving on profit and not-for-profit boards.
I LIVE UNITED by advocating the issues most important to my United Way."

Free Books for Kids in Jeannette
200 Children are Now Registered
in the Imagination Library Program
updated: 05.11.10
A unique new opportunity has opened up for residents of Jeannette. As a result of the combined efforts of the United Way and Westmoreland Community Action, The Imagination Library, a national program which promotes literacy in children, is now coming to Jeannette.
At no cost to you, books will be sent directly to your home in your child's name. The program will deliver a new book monthly to your child from birth through age four or until you are no longer a resident of Jeannette. Your only requirement is to read to your child--the most essential aspect of this program!
Ready to register? Get in touch with United Way of Westmoreland County directly by phone today! Contact Jan Fox at 724-834-7170 x32 to get started NOW!
Or click on the train to register online instantly!
What are my responsibilities?
•Must be a resident of Jeannette.
•Submit an official registration form, completed by parent or guardian (This form must be approved and on file with United Way of Westmoreland County).
•Notify UWWC any time your address changes. Books are mailed to the address listed on the official registration form.
•Read with your child.
Spread the word
If you know a preschool child in Jeannette who is not receiving books through the Imagination Library, give their parents the link to join, or a brochure to register. There is nothing to lose--the program is free and a great benefit to the children in our community!
