Dr. Mary Ann Gawelek is not only a donor and volunteer but also an advocate, demonstrating the meaning of LIVE UNITED.

"I advocate for community improvement everyday by supporting United Way's efforts to research the condition of women in the region, and by encouraging women to get directly involved in their community by serving on profit and not-for-profit boards.

I LIVE UNITED by advocating the issues most important to my United Way."

  Accountability

Having served the Westmoreland County community for over 40 years, we know that our greatest asset is your trust in us.

Without it, we could not be one of the largest independent 501(c)(3) organizations that provides resources to solve critical issues and serves as an agent for change in the human services community for our county and surrounding areas.

We want to make sure...

that you are totally confident in how we are serving the community's needs, investing your gifts and conducting our operations with the care and prudence that you expect from us.

To provide accountability in all of these areas, we are monitored and managed by a 27 member Board of Directors who oversee the execution of our mission and accountability of our organization.

Also, we have been Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations(PANO) certified, a state organization that sets standards for nonprofit operations and accountability. In 2008, we completed our five-year recertification.
